Repaving and Widening of Highway 44 Begins |
The Idaho Transportation Department is improving the intersection of Idaho (Hwy) 44 and Linder Road and repaving the highway between Linder and Ballantyne.
|
Construction begins in November and will be completed December 2013. The project includes widening Highway 44 to five lanes bewteen W. State Street to just west of Linder Road. Two lanes in each direction will help the increased traffic flow East/West and double left-turn bays will be built. Right turn lanes will also be added on all four sides of the Linder Road/Hwy 44 intersection and a wider center lane will be created adding two feet for safer turning.
Drivers should expect traffic to shift to the south side of Hwy 44 while the north side is being rebuilt through the summer of 2013, and a shift in traffic to the north side of the road while the last phase is completed through the Fall of 2013. The speed limit will decrease to 45 mph in the construction zone.
