Getting the Most Mileage out of your Fall Wardrobe
writes, "If you read my previous blog, you, no doubt, have purged your closet and rid yourself of those items that needed to go. No? Well, it’s not too late. Take the step and create a closet full of wearable, flattering and fashionable items. For those of you that have purged and are wondering how to get the most mileage out of your wardrobe without breaking the bank...read on!"
Yes, it will be necessary to spend some money, but let’s spend it wisely. The list below certainly doesn’t cover everything, but it will give you a great starting point to build on.

Boots
In our climate that has a good long winter you should always, always, budget for a great pair of boots. Yes, you will get your money's worth because you will be wearing your boots frequently. I like a tall boot that looks great with a skinny jean, legging or skirt. It is critical that you look at your boots from previous years. Are the heel and toe what you see in magazines? There is no better way to age an outfit then with a shoe or boot that is just OUT. Out of style and worn out. It will make your entire outfit stumble a notch and look 'old' even if your other pieces are new. If your boot is right in style but worn out, take it to your shoe guy and get it cleaned up and re-soled.

Pants
You cannot go wrong with a GOOD pair of leggings. There are so many great fabrications being made you can find one that looks like denim and feels like butt-ah. Imagine sitting Indian style in a super snug, tight legging. Impossible? Not if you've spent the money on one in a luscious fabric! If you think a legging isn't right for your body type, think again. I promise there is the right style out there for you. Leggings of yesteryear were light and thin. Not so much these days. You can find a nice, heavier ponte' knit or a super-stretch denim that will hold you together perfectly.

Next step, take an inventory of your other bottoms. Do you have a great fitting updated jean? Do you have a great fitting updated trouser? These are musts, especially the denim. If you haven't noticed the trend on the denim front it is clean and sophisticated. It is time to lose the bling on the back pocket.

Tops
Since it is Fall, Let's focus on sweaters! Who doesn't love a new sweater? This year look for ponchos and capes. Yep, it's true. And they are cute! At least the ones we are getting in at Ruby Lou; very cute, indeed (we have the sweater from the photo in stock now). They are updated, fresh and not the Woodstock version you may have conjured up in your head. You'll see chunky knits full of texture, sweaters with interesting patterns and just about everything in between this Fall.

Scarves
A scarf not only is functional, it is the easiest, least expensive way to get lots of mileage out of your wardrobe. Not only can you make the same top look entirely different with a scarf, you can make the SAME scarf look entirely different by wearing it different ways. This is a MUST if you are interested in stretching that wardrobe.
