Color in the Forecast
writes, "For the past couple of years buying for Ruby Lou's Spring deliveries had become somewhat of a quest. Yes, a quest - for color; bright, happy color. There was plenty of camouflage, sand, navy, grey, and black. There were so many names for seemingly the same colors. Was I being tricked? The tent looked a lot like camouflage which looked a lot like canteen. The grey looked identical to the asphalt which was the same as graphite and cement; you get the picture. With the sluggish economy came safe and sometimes sluggish colors. Well, no more!"
Color is in the forecast and there is no way to mistake violet with geranium with tropic blue and apple green. You'll notice this trend first and foremost in denim. One brand I carry has 55 different colors of denim to choose from, not including all of their washes in regular blue denim. Are you ready to sport lipstick pink skinny jeans?

Not to worry if that lipstick skinny jean isn't your thing. I was happy to see this color trend start with the denim but translate into everything else like shoes, colorful jackets, tees, jewelry, skirts...everything! These colors made me feel optimistic, happy and fresh when I saw them at market, and I imagine wearing them will do the same.

With so much color clamoring for attention, white will be an important balancing color to work into your wardrobe. We all will need to freshen up those white basic tanks, tees and blouses. And don't forget: white bottoms will be more important this season than ever. Feeling hesitant? Refer back to my blog on "Wearing White" from June 2011 for some great tips.

Happy New Year!
