New Year's Noise Makers
writes, "Ring in 2013 with some homemade noise."

Materials:
Small lidded box or tin
Dried beans, grains, or beads
Tissue paper or tassel
Tape, glue, stapler

1) Fill a Container
Start with a small jewelry gift box or an Altoids tin. Almost any little lidded container will work. A tomato paste can & lid would be perfect. Experiment with sound: partially fill with dried beans, uncooked rice, popcorn kernels, or beads to get the sound you want when you shake it. Tape or glue your container closed {bonus points for using Justin Bieber duct tape}.

2) Add a Tassel
Recycle a used ribbon tassel or make your own with a sheet of tissue paper {also recycled}. Fold a sheet of tissue paper in half, then over and over lengthwise. Staple the top edge. Without cutting through the top edge, make a series of vertical cuts, creating a tassel. Tape or glue to the outside of your box.

3) Three, Two, One!!!
Count down to midnight {or midnight eastern standard time} then make lots of noise. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
