No More Excuses - Exercise!
writes, "Want to be more alert at work? Feel less tired at home? Spend some quality time with your spouse? How about enjoying a cookie without guilt?

If you answered "yes" to all of these questions (and who wouldn't?), exercise is the answer. Being physically active offers benefits far beyond the obvious. If you've been looking for the motivation to begin an exercise program or get back into working out regularly, here are a few facts that may help you get started.
"
1. Not only does exercise give you the body you want but it also gives your brain what it needs. "Exercise increases energy levels and increases serotonin in the brain, which leads to improved mental clarity," says Atkinson, director of program development for Cooper Ventures, a division of the Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas. My clients will say, "I love getting up in the morning and getting my exercise in, it makes the rest of my day more doable."

"It is clear that those who are active and who exercise are much more productive at work," says Todd A. Astorino, assistant professor of kinesiology at California State University-San Marcos. When you can think clearer and your brain is in a more active state you are that much more productive at work and at home.

2. Exercise can decrease your stress
When I have some life stress going on there is nothing like getting outside for a nice run or bike ride. It really clears the soul. "Exercise produces a relaxation response that serves as a positive distraction," says Cedric Bryant, chief exercise physiologist for the American Council on Exercise. He says it also helps elevate your mood and keep depression at bay.

3. It is not hard to find the time to exercise
This is one of the biggest complaints that I used to hear from clients - but not anymore. Since I started coaching CrossFit I am a true believer that getting the results does not have to be in long, hard workouts. Everyone has 10 or even 20 minutes at one time to get a work-out in. You can find my post on Tabata style training in this blog to give you ideas and get you started.

4. Exercise can help build community
Time and time again studies show that when we exercise in groups we put forth a better effort and in a sense we become more competitive. This can lead to higher pain threshold, a higher work-order, and we are less likely to quit. Group workouts are no longer being confined to glassed-off big box gyms. You can now find stroller groups, run/walk groups, and boot camps at local parks.

So what I am saying to you is that there is no excuse. If you still are struggling to know where to begin please leave me a comment and I will be sure to help.
