Wrapped Wreath for Any Season
writes, "Your child can make a wreath to decorate your front door for any season, holiday, or special occasion."
Materials:
Newspaper {we used one Boise Weekly per wreath}
Masking tape
Yarn
Any small seasonal decorations {optional}

Directions:
1) Make the Wreath Form
Using a few sheets at a time, crumple and twist newspaper into branch-like shapes. Use masking tape to connect the ends, gently shaping them into a circle. We used one Boise Weekly to make one wreath, crumpling and twisting 4 full sheets together to make a "branch." There were 16 sheets, making 4 "branches" to complete the circle. Add more masking tape to any loose ends or spots that need extra shaping.

2) Wrap It Up
Have your child choose the color of yarn to use. Help them to tie the loose end of a ball of yarn into a knot at any place on the wreath form. Show your child how to wrap the yarn around and around the wreath form. The best results come from wrapping the yarn strands closely together, and not too tightly. Any spots where the newspaper shows through can be wrapped again. If you are using multiple colors, simply tie then end of one color to the next and keep wrapping until you are ready for a new color. Wrap all the way around the wreath, covering the newspaper completely.

3) Adding Extras
When your child's wreath is wrapped with yarn, they can add some extra stripes or fill in any bare spots by wrapping more yarn over the top. Just be sure to tie the ends and tuck them under. You could add flowers, pinecones, leaves, a tiny pumpkin, bells, hearts, flags, bows, or anything special for your season or holiday.

4) Hang It Up
You can use a wreath hanger or nail to hang your wreath on your door. You could also use a little ribbon or rickrack to hang your wreath.

Other Ideas:
These wreaths could be wrapped with strips of fabric or felt in any color.
Try making tiny wreaths as place settings or to decorate wrapped presents.
