Handmade Holiday Workshop, Week 8: Tea Box Gingerbread House
writes, "These adorable little houses are quick & easy. They're also sugar and gluten free : )
"
Materials:
Empty tea box
Stapler
Red and brown construction paper
Scallop scissors {or pinking shears}
Colored pencils

1) Fold & Staple Your House
Open your tea box. With the lid up, bend the top side edges inward. Fold the lid down over the top and staple it to the sides.
You should have a house shape with a peaked roof.

2) Cover With "Gingerbread"
Cut a piece of brown construction paper as wide as the box, and just long enough to fold over the top and cover the front & back sides.

3) Add a Roof
Cut a piece of red constructions paper the same width, but shorter. Trim the bottom edges with scallop scissors. Place on top of the brown construction paper and staple through all layers.

4) Add Curb Appeal
Using colored pencils, have your child add a front door and windows. Show them how coloring the inside of the windows yellow makes the house look lit from within.

Other ideas:
Add a red chimney with two little rectangles of red construction paper with a little cotton ball fluff sandwiched between them.

Make several houses to create a little village. Sprinkle with pretend snow and add a few bottle brush trees.
