Homemade Play-Dough |
catie writes, "After a very rainy spring break, and with even more rain in the forecast, this is a great time to make your own Play-Dough. Your kids will love helping you make it as much as they will love playing with the finished product."

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 cups hot water
1 cup salt
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon cream of tartar {it's cheaper in the bulk spice section}
{you will also need food coloring, to be added later}
1) Mix & Heat
In a large pan over medium heat, stir the first five ingredients until very thick {this takes just a few minutes}.
2) Cool
Remove from heat and allow to cool.
3) Knead & Color
Once the dough is cool enough to handle, knead until smooth.
Add food coloring and knead to mix thoroughly. We like to divide it into four equal parts, coloring them red, yellow, green and blue.
4) Play & Store
Find kitchen tools {cookie cutters, garlic press, egg slicer} that will be fun to use with your fresh play dough.
Be sure to store your homemade play dough in an airtight container to keep it from drying out.
Another Idea:
Make an extra batch to give away.
