Stress-Free Holiday Shopping |
rubylou writes, "The Christmas Season is upon us and it's hard not to scurry around feeling frenzied. What happened to the relaxing Holiday Season? Did such a thing ever exist? It is possible to slow things down and take the time to enjoy shopping for those on your list. I've learned a few things over the years from my customers and here's what they have taught me."

Don't over think it. Have you ever considered that if it is something YOU like, they will too? How many times have you gone to several stores getting ideas and finally make a purchase after you are exhausted? And then reflect that you liked the first thing you saw the best? In our quest to find the PERFECT item, we overlook so many things that our friends would consider perfect because they came from us.
Remember: It's the thought that counts. Well, there are exceptions. Snuggies, household cleaning related appliances, and something that has been in your gift closet for 10 years may be pushing it. What does count is the fact that you are making an effort to please someone. So ponder for a moment what that person likes. Think about your likes and how they may fit in. I love it when I receive a gift that may be a bit out of my comfort zone and totally in the comfort zone of the giver. It's fun to get out of the box once in awhile.
Accessories! It seems like I've been talking about accessories all Fall. And here I am talking about them again! Scarves-big YES, can't go wrong, fingerless gloves-YES and jewelry-Yes siree. You can never go wrong with a great piece of jewelry. It can fit any and every budget and it's a great way to give an outfit a finishing touch that will give it polish and flair.
Love your locals! My thought for simplifying this year is to keep it local. Did you know that dollars spent at a local business are more likely to stay in the community? Did you know that locally owned businesses donate 2.5 times more to local fundraisers and non-profits than national chain stores? Your local businesses have invested in your community and add character to your town. You'll receive great service from someone who is knowledgeable about the products they are selling AND you'll save yourself time and eliminate stress. I know those local businesses will appreciate it!
Merry Christmas!
