Valentine Bookmarks |
catie writes, "Here's a sugar-free Valentine treat that might even encourage reading! Make one to give to your teacher and favorite librarian. "
|
Materials:
Paint chips
Scissors or paper cutter
Corner rounder {optional}
Heart hole punch
Regular hole punch
Yarn or ribbon
1) Choose Your Colors
Head to the paint section at the hardware store and choose some paint chips in any color you like.
2) Trim and Punch
Using scissors or paper cutter, trim your paint chips into bookmark shapes {long, narrow rectangles}. If you have a corner rounder you can use it to snip the corners. Use a heart hole punch {we found ours at the craft store for $1.00} to punch hearts along one side. Use a regular hole punch to make a hole at the top for a tassel.
3) Add a Tassel
Find some yarn or ribbon in a color you like and knot it through the hole at the top. We used a knot called a girth hitch.
4) Give
These would be great Valentines to make for classmates. For an extra special Valentine, you could tuck one inside a book or give it with a bookstore gift certificate.
Another Idea:
Save the heart punches to use as Valentine confetti.
Happy Valentine's Day!
