T-shirt Fringe Necklace
writes, "Make a few of these necklaces and feel like you are away at summer camp!"
Materials:
Old T-shirts in various colors
Fabric scissors

1) Cut
Using fabric scissors, cut long strips of old T-shirts, 1/2 to 3/4 inches wide. For the necklace in the picture, I used one 24 inch strip and seven shorter strips. Make your shorter strips about 4 inches long, so they are easy to tie. You can trim them once they are tied.

2) Tie
Tie the ends of the long strip together to create the necklace base. Create "fringe" by tying the shorter strips onto the necklace base with a girth hitch knot. See a girth hitch here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cow_hitch. Cinch your knots securely.

3) Trim
Trim your fringe pieces to the desired length. I trimmed mine in graduated lengths, with the center being the longest and getting progressively shorter to the sides.

Other Ideas:
~ Make a necklace and mail it to a friend.
~ String beads onto strips of T-shirt material to make necklaces, bracelets, and even rings.
