Top Ten Tips to Live By |
Trina writes, "There are reasons we live here in Idaho. It is one of the few states you can go fish, hunt, ride, run, swim all within 10 miles from your home. With the seasons changing - so may your exercise routine. In the summer you might have been an indoor gym user, or you visited the lake for some water sports. Perhaps you devoted your summer to the kids and the winter is now your time. Whatever your routine may be, I want to share my top 10 tips to live by every day - learned over the years from my clients, other trainers, and my teachers. "
|
1. This is your moment. There are always bills to pay, stuff to clean, pounds to lose. Forget all that and live life at this very moment to its fullest. Right now is the only moment that exists, make it count. As the country song sings "live life as if you were dying."
2. We are our worst critics. We are always praising others. We lavish them with compliments and say, "Good Job!" If only we could praise ourselves the way we do others. It will be hard but I want you to try it on yourself.
3. Fad diets don't work. I have said this many times. If a diet claims that you will lose more than 2 pounds a week, you may be losing muscle. What works is slow steady shrinking.
4. Follow your heart. To me it means you should not care about what others think and you lead yourself through the journey in which you are empowered.
5. Have Fun. Figure out how you have the most fun, and do more of that. I enjoy spending time outside, working in the yard, or cooking a new recipe.
6. Your Beauty comes from within. Even when I have eaten too much chocolate, am having a bad hair day, or look extra tired, I tell myself: Smile! No one notices your imperfections but you.
7. Taking care of yourself is job number 1. I know many women who tell me, "I don't make me-time." No one else will do it for you. You must put yourself at the top of the list. As I once read in a magazine this is called self-preservation.
8. Hit the Start button. Skipping breakfast is a bad habit for so many. No matter what bad habits you have created, today is the day you change them. You will feel a little healthier tomorrow.
9. Giving Back. There is a saying Giving Back feels like Getting. Even if you don't have money or the time, discovering a way to give a little will be the most fulfilling thing in life.
10. Take Risks. We usually associate the word risk with something bad. In this last tip, stepping toward your fears, making a change, and taking a risk will lead you to growth and reward. Trust me you will be happy you did.
