Tips for Holiday Party Survival
writes, "Gathering with friends and family during the holidays creates meaningful relationships and lasting memories. But with so many parties, celebrations, and errands to run, it can be hard to keep up with your healthy lifestyle. Hopefully my 10 tips will keep you on track during this time of year."
1. Stay active. Don't mistake being busy for being active. Get in your 30 minutes a day of exercise - or if you are short on time, do 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the afternoon.

2. Try a healthier recipe. When treats are a must keep low fat, low-calorie food ideas on hand.

3. Don't arrive starving. Eat a pre-party snack, one that is high in protein and healthy fats.

4. Bring your favorite healthy dish. When attending a party, cook a healthy dish to share, then you know you will have at least one healthy choice.

5. Don't be afraid to say "No thank you." Declining a drink or sugary snack will not offend your host.

6. Start with water. When arriving to your party start with a glass of water before starting with a glass of alcohol. Your body will be well hydrated before adding in the alcohol.

7. Go for Bite Size. Cut calorie intake by cutting pies into 8 slices instead of 6 slices. Mini muffins instead of regular size muffins.

8. Skip the plates. Create a party menu that does not require your guests to use plates. Eating off of cocktail napkins will limit over-eating and limiting the calorie intake.

9. Prioritze your list of parties. Don't think you have to attend every event.

10. Stay positive. We all miss a workout and over do it once in a while. Know that you can get back on track the next day.
