New Positions, Fatal Collisions, Prescription Drug Disposal
writes, "This past Month has been very busy for us and unfortunately a tragic one as well. Here are some important updates."
The budget has been approved for next year and with that comes a couple of great opportunities for our community. The first and most noticeable change the citizens will see is that our office will be open Monday through Friday again, staffed with an administrative assistant beginning in October. A few years ago during really tight budget years, we were forced to cut back staff and one of the positions that we lost was the administrative assistant which cut back access to our office. I am always reminded of how important access is to our office and it will be very nice to be able to keep the doors open during business hours so the public can come in and file reports or ask for assistance.

The other position that we will be getting in October will be a code enforcement officer. This position will assist the City with enforcing ordinances that are often violated. These violations may appear minor but they do impact the quality of life that we all enjoy. We will be putting together some information once this person starts that will describe to you how to report violations that do not rise to the level of criminal behavior.

We have had two fatal collisions on our highways over the past two weeks. One occurred in front of the Shady Acres gas station where a truck collided with a motorcycle, killing the driver of the motorcycle. The other fatal collision occurred near the new Fred Meyer on Chinden, where a pedestrian was struck while walking in the roadway at night. Please be aware of motorcycles on the roadways since they are becoming a more popular way to commute.

Lastly, if you have old prescriptions in your home please get rid of them by properly disposing them at the upcoming "Drug take back" happening on September 29th from 10am to 2pm at the Albertsons in Eagle.

Dana Borgquist, Eagle Chief of Police
