2012 Olympic Style Watch |

This could be because the Games are being held in fashionable London and so many runway shows have highlighted "Sport" in their themes. Also, you can't help but to take note of some of the good and bad uniforms in the opening ceremonies.
What was Ralph Lauren thinking? Manufacturing our uniforms in CHINA? Such a major oversight I can hardly get over it. Do I even mention the French berets? Gulp. If they were made in the USA and he nixed the beret, it would have been a thumbs up from me. National Pride is where Ralph Lauren failed. The Hudson Bay Company was responsible for the Canadian uniforms, personally, I think they are fantastic. I love the vintage "varsity" look of the tops. The khaki pants were a bit bland but I'm not sure denim would have been a good alternative for such an event.
Nike designed track suits for the USA that are made from recycled plastic bottles and have been engineered for aerodynamics. Our runners will fly and look sleek in the process. Our USA rowers will be sporting uniforms made by Boathouse Sports out of Philadelphia and I might add; proudly manufactured here in the USA. I can't wait to see them in action - Kudos to you Boathouse!
How are the Games starting to influence everyday style? Take a look at our Olympic commentators, sporty aren't they? I'm seeing designers showing "varsity" look tees and stripes; as in tuxedo stripes along with "athletic" striping on denim. Another great look is gym clothes that are so cute you'll wear them all day long.
