Clothespin Butterfly
writes, "After you transform a clothespin and a coffee filter into a beautiful butterfly, you might start seeing everyday objects in a new light."
Materials:
Clothespin
Coffee filter {basket-style}
Watercolor paints & paintbrush
Pencil
Pipe cleaner
Beads
Glue
Magnet

1) Painted Wings
Lay your coffee filter flat on a table - a basket-style coffee filter will make a circle when it's flat. Use your watercolor paints to make circles and lines of color. Allow it to dry for a few minutes. When dry {or almost dry}, pinch the coffee filter in the center {really squeeze it down} and clip it with the clothespin. Another option is to accordion-fold the coffee filter, like a fan, and clip it in the center. You might need to twist and fluff the coffee filter, coaxing it into wing shapes.

2) Add a Face
Use your pencil to draw eyes and a mouth at the top of the clothespin.

3) Beaded Antennae
Bend a fuzzy pipe cleaner in half. Wrap each end around a pencil to create a spiral. Clip the bent center with the clothespin, just above the wings. Thread a bead onto each antenna and bend to secure.

4) Add a Magnet
Glue a magnet to the back of your butterfly. Allow to dry, then let it decorate your fridge or hold up a special note.

More Ideas:
~ Use a ribbon to tie a clothespin butterfly on top of a wrapped present.
~ Tuck a clothespin butterfly into a bouquet of flowers or a potted plant.
~ Add paint and glitter to the clothespin for an extra fancy butterfly.
