End of Summer Lantern / Nightlight |
catie writes, "This little lantern will help ease the transition from late summer nights to early-bedtime school nights."
|
Materials:
Clear jar
Colored tissue paper
Scissors {decorative edge optional}
Tape {double-stick works great}
Yarn or thread
Battery powered tealight candle
1) Cut the tissue paper down to a length that wraps completely around your jar with a little bit of overlap. Trim the paper to a height that is shorter than your jar. You can use decorative scissors or carefully tear your tissue paper to give it an artful edge.
2) Tape one end to the jar, wrap it around, and tape the other end.
3) Tie around the tissue paper with some yarn or thread.
4) Drop in a battery powered tealight candle for a warm glow.
Ideas for use:
~ The days are still so long that it can be hard to convince kids that it's really time for bed. Make their room dark and turn on their lantern/nightlight to make their room peaceful and cozy.
~ Use a few lanterns at the dinner table, then let kids take them to their rooms.
~ With the kids in bed early, light a lantern next to the tub while you take a much-needed bubble bath.
